THIS IS SCENE WAS SO AMAZING. ITS PROBABLY THE MOST UNDERRATED SCENE IN THIS WHOLE FILM. BLESS GARY ROSS FOR PUTTING THIS IN. IT SHOWS HOW MUCH HAYMITCH DETESTS THE CAPITOL PEOPLE. i just love this movie ok
I think I’ve said it before, but I legit gasped in the audience at this scene. What I loved about it is how pointed it was, even while being a common scene in our every day culture. Boys are given “fake” weapons for play as gifts by their parents and people laugh at kids having “fun”. Having fun acting out killing people. Putting a scene like this in the middle of this movie? It’s a scathing 4 seconds of visual commentary on the Capitol, but also on us.
Best 4 seconds in the movie, definitely.
